In this episode ofUntamed byUntamed Artistry, with typical vulnerability and courage, Cheryl Peng, Founder and CEO at Untamed Artistry, shares the failure of a dream. She tells us how she knew it was time to quit and what she gained from the dismantling of the ‘Geek Squad,’ the Untamed Artistry brand’s Ambassador Program.
A vision that didn’t come true, the Geek Squad was supposed to provide real value for diehard fans as well as for the Untamed Artistry brand. The plan was for the program to run differently from the way other brands do it. However, what Cheryl found was that the ‘brand ambassador’ concept is outdated and, in many ways, exploits the community.
The idea can work well because referral is so powerful, and it’s more effective for clients to hear from peers how great your service is. However, if the concept does not align with your brand’s core values, it is not likely to succeed. This was true for the Untamed Artistry brand, and Cheryl explains why.
